I completely missed Halloween this year. Didn't get a pumpkin to carve, didn't roast pumpkin seeds... but Fall is one of my favorite seasons in the Pacific Northwest, and I couldn't let the beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows go to waste.

Relentless Sunset
When people find out that I was born and raised in Hawaii, they almost always ask, "why do you live in here?!" After working a full day, I met with friends at Greenlake for a BBQ and picnic near the lake. Some of us even jumped in for a swim. All the while, this sunset hung in the sky. So ask me again.

French toast donut
Headed to Wallingford this morning for Mighty-o donuts. A tray of French Toast donuts greeted us near the entrance, and over 2 dozen donuts later (we didn't eat all of them right there) we were on our way. These French Toast donuts feature cinnamon, cardamon, coriander, ginger, orange peel, and maple syrup in their original donut recipe. Paired with coffee, it was a treat made for a cop!

Jan 27: mossy stairs
Jan 25: soy latte
Jan 18: Seattle snow day
Jan 16: good morning mountains
Although only for a short weekend, good friends, food, and drink made the trek to Oakland overtly worthwhile. I'll definitely be doing it again. I returned to snowy Seattle on Monday morning. And as the sun had just risen over the horizon the plane entered a sea of clouds and Mt. Rainier came to greet me like it does on any other morning commute.
What could be better
What a great night. As the sun set on the city, a huge wave of people dressed in rave green and blue scurried like a flock into Qwest Field for soccer's 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Finals. Sounders FC were defending their title against last year's MLS champions Columbus Crew (Ohio), and the Sounders fans flooded the stadium (31,311 attendance).
I got off the 550 in the International District and with about 100 other people waited for the crosswalk light to let us across the street and down towards Qwest. As the herd of people crowded on the sidewalk, I couldn't help but notice the fiery sky above and stopped to take these pictures. I nearly missed the walk light, but it would have been worth the wait.
After arriving in the stadium, I watched with some of my closest friends, as the Sounders defeated the Crew 2-1. First MLS team in cup history to win it back to back. As the chant goes, "we're so good, it's unbelievable."
I was fortunate enough to have had my camera in the air, recording video of the crazy crowd, when Zakuani had a shot off the crossbar and Nyassi followed through with a left foot on the ball to score the game winning goal.

Blue Scholars - HI 808
Couldn't make it to their shows this weekend, but Blue Scholars put on a great show. And even better, Geo lived in Hawaii before settling in Seattle. This video is a great mixture of 2 parts of my heart, Hawaii and Seattle... [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE-NtSUidcs]
