One Year Photo Project 2010

Vi Pie Friday

20101021-102625.jpg

Ok so I know it's a Thursday, but this was supposed to be on a Friday and Friday sounds better next to Vi and pie. I mean really, Vi Pie Thursday...? No way. So Vi claims she can't cook/bake, but turns out she makes a pretty mean apple pie.

I added the decoration on top. It seemed appropriate for the occasion and the company. Plus, like true Apple nerds, we were watching yesterday's keynote about iLife '11, OS X Lion, and MacBook Air.

So here it is folks, proof that Vi can bale. Don't let her tell you otherwise.

This view doesn't get old

Fall is here, but seriously, this view does not get old. I took these two photos on a Monday night. The first is taken just as the sun was below the horizon and the moon was beginning to shine over the city as Seattle went from day to night. The second photo was taken later that same night. The moon had dropped lower in the sky, just above the Space Needle. I'm lovin' Seattle right now.

Day 83: Granny on a Razor

I saw this older lady get on the bus with her Razor scooter and really wanted to get a picture of her. Clearly, I wasn't as sly as I thought I was, cause she's definitely looking at the camera... oh well. I still think she was rocking that Razor scooter. If only I got to see her zipping down the streets... maybe one day.

Day 79: Tatanka Take-Out

Whenever I go back to Tacoma, I always have the dilemma about where to grab lunch. Bison burritos and burgers at Tatanka Take-Out, amazing sub sandwiches at MSM Deli, Wood-fire pizza at Farrelli's or The Rock, Thai food at Silk Thai or East & West Cafe, homestyle Southern food at Southern Kitchen, Bacon Avocado Omelette and Magic Potatoes at Shakabrah Java, and the list goes on and on... Now I'm hungry...

Ok, well, you can't eat it all in one day, so after a long day of lacrosse, a Flawless Bison Burrito from Tatanka Take-Out was in order... From the cowboy decor to the bison artwork all over the walls and tables, Tatanka is a great little whole in the wall joint. Hey, even the tables dress up for the occasion.

Day 78: Americano and a Book

Sitting downtown with a book and an Americano while the sun shone down on the city, I sat in a coffee shop this afternoon. The tourists and locals rushing in and out of this location brought a bit of excitement to a somewhat normal day, but something about sitting in those comfy armchairs is one of the most relaxing afternoon activities I could have picked.

Day 76: St. Patrick's Day Dinner

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It was quite the feast tonight, Guiness soaked Corned Beef and Vegetables, Cabbage, Colcotton (Mashed Potatoes with Kale and Bacon), and Irish beer.

Kristi prepared the corned beef and vegetables and I cooked the Colcotton. Now, I had never eaten colcotton before having it yesterday at the samples counter of the lower Queen Anne Metropolitan Market. The recipe was fairly easy, and who doesn't like anything with bacon! Here's the Metropolitan Market Colcotton recipe:

Day 75: RTE

The Ron Thom Elite is at it again. The Seattle Sounders FC 2010 season is almost upon us, and this firm is at it again. In celebration/preparation of the season, the firm got together. Members returning and new unite... GO SOUNDERS!

We were one member short today, but Mo, Sam, Ben Carrie, Will, Chris, and Kristi made it! See in 10 days crew!
