Sunday in the Pacific Northwest. There's no better way to spend the day than outside. And with a day of gluttony and debauchery in store for the afternoon (Super Bowl Sunday!), it seemed appropriate to enjoy the day light and beautiful weather. First, breakfast at Might-o Donuts. Nutty French Toast donut and a coffee.
Next, Golden Gardens in Ballard. The air was crisp the sky clear, and the mountains were out!
Finally, back home to cook 100 party wings and watch commercials...
French toast donut
Headed to Wallingford this morning for Mighty-o donuts. A tray of French Toast donuts greeted us near the entrance, and over 2 dozen donuts later (we didn't eat all of them right there) we were on our way. These French Toast donuts feature cinnamon, cardamon, coriander, ginger, orange peel, and maple syrup in their original donut recipe. Paired with coffee, it was a treat made for a cop!

Gung Hay Fat Choy. May prosperity be with you. Although Chinese New Year was on Jan 23, Din Tai Fung made and served dumplings to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. It was fascinating to watch them roll, stuff, wrap, and steam the dumplings.

This photo is actually a happy accident. I hadn't realized that I was snapping a photo as I moved my camera away right as the sun was setting. I love the shape and color that was created.

I got this cardboard deer head from a shop in Oakland. They were kits that you could piece together to make mounted animal heads from cardboard. Bucks, bison, elephants, all sorts of animals. I the simplicity and detail of the cardboard figure.

I purchased this cloth from a market vendor in Okinawa. I love the geometric pattern dyed into the fabric, as well as the texture captured in this shot.

After a few days stuck in my own neighborhood from the snow, the rains washed away the snow and ice and I ventured for the comfort and warmth of ramen from Samurai Noodle. I snapped this shot of the spicy tofu appetizer.
